Indicators
Complement component C6 (934 aa, ~105 kDa) is encoded by the human C6 gene. This protein is involved in complement-mediated host defense responses.
Indicators
Complement component C9 (559 aa, ~63 kDa) is encoded by the human C9 gene. This protein plays a role in complement-mediated bacterial cell lysis.
Indicators
Complement component-4 (1744 aa, ~193 kDa) is part of the complement cascade, which mediates the innate immune response to infection. The full length protein is a precursor that is secreted as a trimeric molecule containing an alpha, beta and gamma chain. When the complement cascade is initiated, the protein is cleaved. This proteolysis releases both the alpha chain, C4 anaphylatoxin, which stimulates inflammation, and a dimer of the beta and gamma chains, which mediates the interaction between the antigen-antibody complex and other complement components.
Indicators
This gene is involved in the mediation of viral entry into cells and cellular migration and chemotaxis.
Indicators
This gene may be involved in the mediation of DNA repair.
Indicators
This gene is involved in the mediation of protein ubiquitination.

Indicators
Galectin-3 (250 aa, ~26 kDa) is encoded by the human LGALS3 gene. This protein plays a role in both antibody-mediated immunity and carbohydrate binding.
Tests
A PCR technique that uses the GP5+/GP6+ primer set for HPV detection. It amplifies a 150 bp region from the L1 region of the HPV genome.
Indicators
A physiological progestin that is produced during glucocorticoid and steroid hormone synthesis and is increased during the third trimester of pregnancy. Hydroxyprogesterone binds to the cytoplasmic progesterone receptors in the reproductive system and subsequently activates progesterone receptor mediated gene expression.
Indicators
IgA is the immunoglobulin subclass that is associated with antibody-mediated mucosal immunity. It is secreted as dimers into the mucosa and is the most effective isotype at fixing complement by the alternative pathway, even though it lacks the ability to fix complement by the classical pathway. There are two subtypes in the human - IgA1 and IgA2.
Indicators
An immunoglobulin isotype (subclass). This isotype has the unique ability to bind with high affinity to IgE receptors (FceRI) on mast cells and basophils and induce degranulation and cytokine production by these cells when they are crosslinked by antigen. In addition to a central role in atopy and allergic responses, it has been speculated that IgE-mediated mast cell degranulation, by its release of mediators that increase vascular permeability, has an important role in the initiation of immune response in general.
