Indicator Explainer
Inhibin A
Gonadal glycoprotein hormone, Inhibin A, consists of an alpha subunit covalently linked to a beta-A subunit and strongly inhibits pituitary FSH secretion. Serum concentrations transit during the menstrual cycle. Dimers of the beta subunit (a TGF-beta superfamily member), termed activin, are potent stimulators of FSH secretion. This page explains what the indicator is and how results are interpreted in general terms. Reference ranges depend on the laboratory, the method, and your own situation — no single “normal value” applies to everyone. This page is health information, not a diagnosis. For symptoms, treatment, or urgent concerns, contact a healthcare professional.
