Tests
A beta-2 microglobulin tumor marker test measures the amount of a protein called beta-2 microglobulin (B2M) in your body fluids. The test usually uses a sample of your blood. It may also be done using urine (pee) or in rare cases cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
Indicators
Beta-2-microglobulin protein (119 aa, ~14 kDa) is encoded by the human B2M gene. This protein plays a role in immune responses and is a key component of major histocompatibility complex class I molecules. The protein is localized to the surface of cells and is utilized as a prognostic marker in persons with cancers that involve white blood cells. The polypeptide is also used as a marker in kidney damage diagnosis and in the detection of viral infection.
Tests
An assay designed to standardize measurement of serum inhibitors of blood clotting in a factor VIII neutralization assay.
Article
Research record from Clin Chim Acta, 2026-10-09. PMID 42855111.
Indicators
A dark orange, yellow pigment that is the product of the breakdown of iron in the blood; it is conjugated in the liver and excreted in the bile.
Tests
A bilirubin blood test measures the levels of bilirubin in your blood. Bilirubin is a yellowish substance made during your body's normal process of breaking down old red blood cells. Bilirubin is found in bile, a fluid your liver makes to help you digest food.
Indicators
This gene plays a role in DNA unwinding and recombination-mediated telomere lengthening.
Tests
A blood alcohol test measures the amount of alcohol (also called ethanol) in a sample of your blood. Alcohol is the ingredient in beer, wine, and distilled spirits (liquor) that makes you feel intoxicated (drunk).
Tests
The determination of the measured concentrations of chemical constituents of the blood by assay in a clinical laboratory.
Tests
A blood differential test measures the amount of each type of white blood cell (WBC) that you have in your blood. This test can help diagnose or monitor an infection or condition that affects your immune system .
Tests
Point-of-care measurement of oxygenation, ventilation, acid-base status, and electrolytes in critically ill patients.
